Do It Yourself Thank You Cards

Happy Friday!  Last night I was cleaning out some of my craft bins and came across a bunch of green Piperlime envelopes that I had saved (you know the ones that the receipt comes in?).

Anyway, I always save them because I love that they are card sleeve envelopes and also the color is beautiful.  I decided to make some thank you notes using embossing powder, a 'thanks stamp, note cards and custom label.  I had all of these things in my craft bin, so it was just a matter of putting it all together.  Here are the supplies I used:
-Piperlime card sleeve envelope
-Gold embossing powder
-Heat tool
-Gold stamp ink
-'Thanks' stamp
-Custom label (I designed these myself & will post in the future)
-Glue stick
-Note card (4"x5" which was trimmed down slightly)

Embossing powder is simple and looks so great.  I haven't really used this technique since my wedding almost two years ago, so my supplies were a little rusty (I realized I need some new ink pads!).  Anyway, you first stamp the paper and make sure you have tons of ink on since that is what the powder adheres to.  Immediately, before the ink dries, put on tons of embossing powder.  Make sure you do this with a newspaper or something under it because the powder will go everywhere.  I was lucky enough to sneeze and blow the powder all over my apartment!  I've always wanted gold floors.
Once you have all the powder on, tip the excess onto a sheet of paper or back into the bottom.  Then gently tap the paper with your finger to get any excess off.  If you notice there is powder where it shouldn't be, you can use your finger to dust off or a toothpick, if you want to be very careful.  Then plug in your heat tool and place it about 3 inches from the paper.  Hold it over each letter until you see a glossy look (and it will almost look hard).  You probably need to hold it over each letter for about 5 seconds.
Once the note card is done, paste the label in the center of the envelope, leaving the return address part unglued. Fill out the card, put it inside and paste the return label down.
And that's it!  Simple and very cute!

I realized I fill out the card before I took the picture.  Oops!  Sorry guys :)  Also, as I have said before, I plan on upgrading to a DSLR soon, so please forgive the poor quality of pictures.  My little Canon Powershot can only do some much!
